Compression stockings
If your legs feel heavy, achy or swollen by the end of the day, compression stockings can help. They gently squeeze the leg, firmest at the ankle and easing off toward the knee, which helps blood flow back toward the heart. We measure you in clinic so your stockings fit well and are comfortable to wear every day.

Why a proper fitting matters
Compression only works when the fit is right. A stocking that is too loose does little, and one that is too tight can dig in or roll down. We take the appropriate measurements and help you choose the right size, style and level of compression.
Compression levels
- Light (15–20 mmHg): everyday support for tired legs, travel and long days on your feet
- Moderate (20–30 mmHg): for regular swelling, aching or varicose veins
- Firm (30–40 mmHg): for more significant swelling or vein conditions, usually on a doctor's advice
Comfortable to wear
Today's compression stockings come in a range of colours, sheer and opaque fabrics, open or closed toes, and athletic styles. Most people put them on first thing in the morning and take them off at bedtime. We show you easy ways to put them on, and donning aids are available if bending or grip is difficult.
Caring for your stockings
Hand wash them in lukewarm water and let them air dry, so the fabric keeps its stretch. With daily wear, most pairs need replacing every 3 to 6 months. Having two pairs lets you wear one while the other is washed.
Insurance
Many extended health plans cover compression stockings. Some plans ask for a doctor's prescription that lists the compression level, so it is worth checking your plan before your fitting. You receive an itemized receipt to submit to your plan.
