Check your plan before you book

Most extended health plans treat custom foot orthotics differently from other foot care. A quick call or check of your plan booklet answers these:

  • Does my plan cover custom foot orthotics, and how often?
  • Does it need a doctor's prescription?
  • Does it need a gait analysis report?
  • Is there a yearly maximum, and when does it reset?

We don't bill insurers directly. You receive itemized receipts to submit to your plan.

How it works

Five steps, from assessment to follow-up

1

Assessment

We look at your feet, how you walk and your footwear.

2

3D foot scan

A precise scan of your foot shape and arch.

3

Prescription

We choose the materials and design for your feet and activities.

4

Fitting

We check the fit in your shoes and explain how to break them in.

5

Follow-up

We check how they feel and adjust if needed. Your follow-up visit and adjustments are included.

What's involved

Assessment first, orthotics only if they'll help

Custom foot orthotics start with a biomechanical assessment and gait analysis. The assessment is billed separately from the orthotics, and we explain all fees before anything is ordered.

If your assessment points to something else, such as exercises, a change of footwear or another treatment, we'll tell you that instead.

Made for your shoes

Designed around what you actually wear

Orthotics for work shoes, runners and walking shoes. We review the footwear you wear most and design your orthotics to fit it.

Bring the shoes you wear most often to your assessment.

Questions

Before you book

How long do they last?It depends on the materials, how often you wear them and your activity level. We check them at your follow-up visits and let you know when they need replacing.
Will they fit my dress shoes? Some designs are made slimmer for dress or work shoes. Bring the shoes you want to wear them in, and we'll design around them.
What if they feel uncomfortable?Adjustments are included, and your follow-up visit is part of your orthotic care. We also explain how to break them in gradually. If a new concern comes up, we'll let you know at your appointment whether it needs a separate visit.
Do I need a referral? No. Some benefit plans ask for a doctor's prescription for orthotics, so check your plan before you book.
Do you bill my insurance directly? No. You receive itemized receipts to submit to your plan.
